Four research articles on family business research presented at conference in Chur (Switzerland)


Members of the ifm entrepreneurship team and the family business research team presented their latest research results on innovation, organizational change, and succession in family firms at the "4th Forum SME Research" Conference.

New research results on organizational change, succession in family business, and innovations in family firms were shown and discussed in four conference presentations by Nora Block, Jan Zybura, and Jan-Philipp Ahrens. The conference keynote was held by Prof. Dr. Imanol Belausteguigoitia Rius, Director of the Family Business Center, Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM), Mexiko. Further adresses were given by Rudolf Minsch, Chief-economist and member of the board of economiesuisse, Carl Elsener, CEO of Victorinox AG (manufacturer of the Swiss Army Knife), and Eric Scheidegger, Vice-Director of the Staatssekretariat für Wirtschaft SECO and Leiter Direktion für Wirtschaftspolitik.

 

The "Forum SME  Research" Conference is organised jointly by the University of Chur, University of Siegen, and the Vienna University of Economics and Business. It takes place on a two year basis and is dedicated to small and medium sized enterprise research from the disciplines business studies, economics, sociology, psychology, and history of economics. Besides being an academic conference, it also serves as a plattform for knowledge interchange between experts from science and experts from the economic and political realm. This year the conference took place in Chur which is known as the oldest town of Switzerland.

 

The conference also offers the prospect to organize a special issue in the Journal of Family Business Strategy from high standard full paper conference contributions. The Journal of Family Business Strategy publishes research that contributes new knowledge and understanding to the field of family business. The Journal is international in scope and welcomes submissions that address all aspects of how family influences business and business influences family.
