Baris Istipliler, M.Sc.

Baris Istipliler is a research associate and a PhD Candidate since the beggining of 2018 at the University of Mannheim, Chair of Entrepreneurship and SME Research. He obtained his M.Sc. from the University of Mannheim and B.Sc. at Ege University (Turkey) and was an exchange student at Justus Liebig University Gießen. During his studies, he has worked at multiple MNCs and gained experience in the fields of treasury, controlling, entrepreneurial finance, financial accounting as well as operations. His research interests lie in the fields of identification/operationalization of family firms, goals and values, innovation, succession and performance in the family firms as well as entrepreneurial failure and success, serial/portfolio entrepreneurship. Apart from that, he currently investigates the  effects of local embeddedness of collaboration activities of Ukrainian and Russian SMEs on their financial performance and innovativeness.

After presented in European Academy of Management 2018, his first working paper got accepted for Academy of Management Conference 2019, with a Best Paper status enabling it to be published in an abridged form in the Academy of Management Proceedings in the coming days. Immediately after, his second working paper received Best Paper Award and a prize of 500€ at 4th International Family Business Research Forum in Monaco.
