Globalization, The New Economy & International Management


In spring semester 2009, Professor Robert Isaak, PhD, from Pace University, New York, will be teaching as a visiting lecturer at the Department of Small Business Research and Entrepreneurship at the University of Mannheim. He will be offering a course dealing with globalization, new economy and international management.


1) Course Description

This seminar critiques globalization as dominated by "the New Economy," technological development and Anglo-Saxon economic liberalism in contrast to other approaches to managing global economic change. It explores collective learning models, ecopreneurship, the strategic implications of Moore's Law, Silicon Valley development and outsourcing.

This seminar is formally recognized as a constituting part of the "Hauptstudium der BWL" (SBWL: "International Management") and is adressing students at the master/graduate level.

Successful examination grants 6 ECTS points to the students.

5) Time and Location
From 02/16/2009 until 06/05/2009 every Monday 10.15 - 11.45 am in O 131

6) Registration
Registration is compulsory! Interested students have to register at the Institute for Small Business Research during 02/09/2009 until 02/13/2009 between 10am and 12 am. Please bring your ECUM -card (students' ID) to obtain admission to the course. Please note that the attendance is restricted to 25 participants who will be selected by "first come, first serve".
