Forschungsgruppe Familienunternehmen acquires big data project on leadership equality

Following the political developments of the last few years introducing FüPoG (Gesetz für die gleichberechtigte Teilhabe von Frauen und Männer an Führungspositionen in der Privatwirtschaft und im öffentlichen Dienst) and the current social discourse, the ifm research team is addressing the question of what role female leadership is playing in Germany.

With the help of a large database and high-end computers, an encompassing analysis will be conducted to provide reliable and valuable insights for entrepreneurs and society. A wide range of parameters from company size to region will be examined and represented allowing for a broad analysis without any constraints. The project will tackle research questions on the influence of legal regulations, regional differences and other aspects of diversity such as nationality or academic background. The main focus will be on the current and future state of female leadership in family businesses of all sizes, also including the Mittelstand as a new perspective, and the differences to non-family businesses.

The research endeavor is funded by the EQUA foundation and supports 3 positions over a timeframe of 18 months. The interdisciplinary project team is completed by Freya Onneken, Maren Rottler, Baris Istipliler, Dr. Robert Strohmeyer and Dr. Jan-Philipp Ahrens from Mannheim’s management area.
