Study by Marc Kowalzick and Michael Woywode awarded @EURAM

Marc Kowalzick and Michael Woywode (both ifm, Chair of SME Research and Entrepreneurship) and their co-author Moritz Appels (Rotterdam School of Management) were awarded the 2023 Best Paper Award of the Behavioral Strategy Track during last week’s conference of the European Academy of Management (EURAM). With almost 2,000 submissions this year, the annual EURAM conference is the largest European conference for management research and took place in Dublin, Ireland, from June 14th to 16th.

In their paper entitled “A Moral Foundations Perspective on CEO Political Ideology and Moral Behavior,” Marc Kowalzick, Moritz Appels, and Michael Woywode challenge the notion of liberal-leaning CEOs as particularly responsible chief executives and demonstrate that liberal and conservative-leaning CEOs engage in comparable degrees of responsible and irresponsible corporate practices in line with their unique emphasis on distinct moral foundations. The paper was selected as the best paper of the “Behavioral Strategy and Purpose-Driven Strategies“ Track of the Strategic Interest Group on Strategic Management.

Moreover, Marc Kowalzick has been nominated as the best conference reviewer.
